What We Do
Tobacco Free Northeast PA offers tobacco treatment through professional counselors and FDA approved quit aids (service is free); youth prevention and advocacy programs that provide peer education in schools and community organizations, and enforcement to minimize underage tobacco sales; tobacco free workplaces; assistance with adoption of a smoke-free policy in multiunit housing (PA Clean Indoor Air Act) as well as promotion of outdoor tobacco free policies in your athletic fields, parks and recreation areas through the Young Lungs at Play program.
The Tobacco Free Northeast PA Coalition is comprised of cessation and prevention service providers, healthcare providers, insurers, national non-profit representatives, local business owners, government officials, colleges, faith-based organizations and community partners. Coalition members meet twice yearly to discuss local strategies and accomplishments. The Coalition is divided into three regional workgroup that meet quarterly to identify local needs and resources to accomplish their tobacco and chronic disease risk reduction goals. Membership is open to all concerned citizens in the Northeast region.
In addition to our program work, Tobacco Free Northeast PA assists the PA Department of Health with initiatives such as the Healthy Corner Store, Diabetes Prevention, Matter of Balance and Head Start/Legacy Second-hand Smoke trainings. We also partner with the American Lung Association’s LungForce Expo project.
As the regional primary contractor for the northeast region of Pennsylvania, our services are provided through subcontracts with local health care providers. We serve the counties of Carbon, Lackawanna, Lehigh, Luzerne, Monroe, Northampton, Pike, Susquehanna, Wayne and Wyoming.
